    yes, but why does it matter?

    • Because it does...Especially to those who are alone, isioalted, young and live in fear both real and assumed, about what the wolrd holds for someone who is gay. It matters b c some of us think it is a good thing to be gay, not something that "shouldn't matter', something to be proud of, and soemthing to value in others..I could go on..issues of identity matter, whether you are talking about reace, gender, sexual aoreintation, these matter, b c the world insists they do. Diversity is a good thing, alot of people think, not an issue of something NOT mattering...The suggestion that it shouldn't matter ca nbe coming from either the belief that one's sexuality is not a viable issue of identity, or that it is something to be ignored at best, and hidden at worst. The shame and isolation are killing us.
