Do you feel that a four year college degree should be a requirement for all police officers? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of such a requirement? Do you think this requirement would change the public's opinion about the police?

    Simply99 -- Not a fan favorite.

    No. Police shouldn't be required to take any college courses. They are police, nothing else. Their job is to enforce the law and make it safer for the community as a whole. Going to college and studying up on 19th Century European Literature will do nothing to make the streets safer. College doesn't make you smart, it doesn't give you more wisdom, it doesn't make you a better person, it doesn't magically give you the ability to make better decisions during a crisis situation. It would possibly change my opinion of the police force if they all were required to pass English 101 courses -- for the worse.

    • You don't think courses in ethics, foreign cultures, psychology, public speaking, and the like wouldn't be helpful?
