I submit it means "Professional Association". Along the line of LLC. Limited Liablitity Corporation. The person is self-incorporated. You can not sue the person personally.

    • This is correct. I work for a physician, who is an "M.D., P.A.". It just means you can only sue the business, you would not be able to take the doctor or lawyers personal assets as part of a malpractice suit.

    • Actually, you are only partially correct. You can always sue a lawyer personally. Being part of a professional corporation only protects other attorneys from being sued for your attorneys acts.
