Did Darth Vader ever take on an apprentice between the time periods of Episode III and Episode VI? If so, what became of this apprentice?

    The closest Vader ever came to having an apprentice, as touched upon in the expanded universe novels, was an imperial trooper named Flint who had received training from Darth Vader before his demise at the Battle of Endor. Subsequently, Darth Lumiya took this trooper as her own apprentice following the fall of the empire.

    The Rule of Two is never broken, but it is not unusual for a Sith apprentice to take an apprentice of his or her own when that apprentice plans on killing his/her master, so that they in turn can become the master. According to Episode 3, both movie and novel, Vader wanted to kill Palpatine and take an apprentice almost immediately. Similarly, Darth Tyranus took Asajj Ventress as a makeshift apprentice, as he too eventually plotted to overthrow Sidious. Though Ventress was more of a tool than anything else, it was Dooku's plan, as it is the plan of any Sith Lord, to overthrow his master.

    Hence, in the movies, Vader never had an apprentice, but in the expanded universe novels, he did at one point personally train a foce sensitive imperial trooper, likely with the intent of using him to help him overthrow Sidious. It is even more likely that Vader would have tried to turn Luke to the Dark Side by forcing him to kill trooper Flint, had this plan ever worked.

    • all thats true, in a new hope when luke is about to blow up the first death star vader takes two pilots with him, i always wonder if one or both he was training, it'd break the rule of two but siths are assholes i dont think he'd care! haha just a theory.
