Hey guys!
I did four full days of no eating and drinking that spicy elixir.
I was ready to go on for another week but THANK GOODNESS Vanessa (my best friend) provided me with a escape door for my stubborness:
I called her after the fourth day for a chat, ended up telling her what I was doing - she FREAKED and got so angry at me for being stupid and immediately sent me links and studies with TONS of examples of the harm that these 'starvation diets' can do to you (mostly including all the things I wrote beneath). She told me she wouldn't get off the phone with me until I told her I would quit. I was feeling so miserable, SO MISERABLE- I was so happy to have her give me an escape!!!
Also found out that the author of the diet killed some of his patients and was convicted of second degree murder and giving medical advice without a license...
If you are interested in the results:
Pluses:
-Better skin
-Diminished desire for unhealthy foods (fried/fatty/dairy (not saying that's unhealthy but for some reason it's turned me off dairy for now))
-Lost Three kilos in four days (but I think this is extremely harsh and not healthy for the body)
-Feeling of cleanliness on the morning of the third day
-Happy that I experimented the detox for myself
-Pleased to learn that I my originial reaction (ie ALL OF YOUR INITIAL REACTIONS) was correct.
Minuses:
-Feeling terribly foolish (because I wanted to believe so much that it was good for you)
-Eyes red and irritated
-Woke up to pangs of pain (stomach)
-Hungry after the second day - VERY HUNGRY after that!
-Tired: I tried to force myself to believe that I was not but really just wanted to sleep (esp when I got home from work)
-Moody: Snappy at Julien, sharp to coworkers and friends, 'angry' at people who were eating (this was the weirdest part - I was really MAD that they were eating, like an animal...), short temper and unreasonable stubborness, crankiness
-Uncharacteristically unhappy! Sad for what seemed like apparently no reason, really SAD that I couldn't have food, depressed about it in a way...
-Angry, sad, and depressed that my social life for the ten days would be close to zero
It was bad - thank goodness it's over! Food is so good :)
Ha ha just thought you guys might want to know how it went.

I believe you allowed your friend to give you an escape just as you said in your post. The first 3 or 4 days of the cleanse are the toughest part and the most uncomfortable because your body has begun the detoxing process and the symptoms you experienced were toxins being mobilized and removed in your body. Too bad you never made it to the euphoric stage (for me, around day 7 and day 8). You have to be committed to the cleanse. Whenever I do the Master Cleanse I do not share what I'm doing w/co-workers, friends, etc. because most people will become skeptical and give an opinion on something they don't know anything about. This cleanse has been around for many many years and I've done it nearly every year for the last 5 years with absolutely NO problems. I did it for 21 days in 2005 while training for World Championships in track & field. As an olympic caliber athlete training for the world stage, to have been able to train while on the Master Cleanse for 21 days is ultimate attestment to the benefits of the Master Cleanse.
The key to getting through the cleanse is first a committment, secondly clearing your social calendar for 10 days or for however long you're cleansing and do it. Your life will not end if you don't hang out with your friends for 10 days. Gee whiz. It sounds like you wanted a way out and your friend gave you one. Now you're magnifying the negative side effects you felt and deeming that the Master Cleanse wasn't good. Hmmmm....yeah I think the problem was your lack of committment...not the Master Cleanse itself.
