However funny you are, you are the closest to the real answer...
I have met an astronaut through a conference and she mentioned that the only man-made thing you can see from out of space is not the great wall of China (it is more or less a few meters wide... how could you see it???), it is the Pyramids in Egypt. Because they are :
1- Huge
2- Lighter in color versus its backdrop (sand of the desert).
