It would be hard for either the mother or her husband to ever look at the child and not be reminded of how it came into being, and that is not something anybody should have to live with.

I would not want the baby, nor would I even want to put it up for adoption - rapists should not be entitled to continue their gene pool because of their criminal and disrepectful actions.

    • Don't think the gene pool has anything to do with it hon, there's absolutely no evidence that the child would be the same. Given the fact that some of us on this thread have been downrated and attacked for much milder opinions I'm worried about you!!!!

For me it is not about the uncertain gene pool, it is about both my own feelings and ultimately the feelings of the child. I personally couldn't go ahead.

    • I'm not suggesting that the child would be like the father. What I'm saying is that having children should be a privilege and a positive action by both parents, and I don't see why anybody should be allowed to have a child by forcing somebody else to bear that child against their will.

    • while thats true, the child is innocent and is a victim itself. It would take a strong person to look beyond the rape and see a child for what it is, another human being, who as every opportunity to do something great with his/her life. My .2 cents.

    • I agree with you, ICU. It's not fair to punish an innocent child for someone else's crimes.
