Why do cats who are "kneading" on a blanket also bite on it and kick their back legs up at the same time?

    It's instinctive. They're imagining they've caught something delicious like a mouse or a bird and they're trying to break its neck by violently kicking it with their back legs.

    • Yeah...not quite. It is instinctive...but in a more maternal sense like another answer has mentioned.
