Help answer this question below.

My dog is a pedigree shihzu he every night and morning licks my feet i kiss him feed him by hand becacause he starves himself i geve him ice cold water even he doesnt like to eat what can i do his name is bailey-oh-boy

    He will eat if he is hungry...take him to the vet and get him checked out...stop buying all the crazy treats...the dog is controlling you not you controlling the dog...purchase a good qualitity dry food put it down for him in a nice clean bowl...leave him alone...he will eat or strave to death...i do not know any dogs that have starved to death when food was available...its not the dogs fault it is your fault for letting the dog control you...i am not saying it is easy...i am a soft touch as well...but just do it...it is better for your dog and cheaper for you!!!

    • What you are feeding him now will kill him eventually. The way to fix this issue is to feed him an excellent quality dry food, put it down for 30 minuites (ONLY) twice a day with fresh water available all day, and he will eat. be strong!

    • As long as you leave the same amount of feed each day does it matter if i leave it available all day...?

    • The idea for removing the food bowl is from a pet behaviorist friend of mine. She says that dogs who are reluctant eaters will be more likely to eat if they know that the food will be available for a limited time each day. You can adjust the time or frequency to suit your needs or anxiety level, but she recommends the twice a day 30 minute stretch.
