In the Beatitudes, what exactly did Jesus mean when He promised that the "pure in heart" will see God? Does salvation make your heart pure?

I don't presume to speak for God or give a definitive answer to this, but this is what I've held that line to mean:

You must have the best, most godly intentions in your heart. Your heart is what God mainly looks at. If all you have is goodness in your heart (and you have accepted Jesus as the Lord of all), you will be acceptable to God at all times, and he will reveal himself to you, both while you are living and after you die. He will reveal himself to you in how he guides your life, and sometimes even more directly (so you can "see" him), and he will allow you to reside with him eternally in heaven, so you will see him always then.

    • Thank you so much for your hopeful words!! It was really discouraging to think no human heart could ever be pure enough.

    • those are wonderful comments and it is very nice to see respectful answers/comments on the subject of Jesus/God there are so many out there that can not wait to jump someone if they believe in Salvation. Our minister has told us that we have to start doing something about the bashing of christians and no way did he mean in a bad way or demeaning way or attacking way, but as christians by using the armor of God we should start showing our beliefs and try to talk more of what and why He created us and if no one wants to listen , fine at least we gave it a good try and I have no worry if someone down rates me, long as I am doing what the Lord wants me to do that and only that is what I am worried about! thank you for letting me comment on this thread and bless all of you for reading
