That is a very good question. The Bible should be quoted in any argument, discussion, or statement regarding God. How can you say you are the one who is right and expect others to agree without using the word of God?

In my opinion the main difference between denominations of Christianity is the interpretation of scripture. Many denominations do not encourage Bible reading enough, and their congregations suffer for it. They accept what the preacher says as Biblical, because he wouldn't lead them astray, would he? I do not believe they would intentionally, but errors do creep in from many sources. There is little knowlege about what the Bible says, so people don't recognize the dangers.

Here's a few scriptures for you to keep things in perspective.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

    • Good explanation of why it happens, and why it should not. Nice that you use the bible to support your answer.

    • Friends, The Eastern Orthodox Church today is probably/possibly the only church that is preaching John 15:26 on the eternal procession of the Holy Spirit "from the Father", from the Father "alone" ("ek monou tou Patros). Nobody else preaches/teaches this, or seems to know why this important in Church History, history of Bible interpretation on our Triadology (Doctrine of the Holy Trinity). In Erie PA Scott R.
