Religion has to be a big deal, because that's kind of the point. This is what drives me nuts about religious people; they never really believe. Not in their bones. When did we even get belief, anyway? What happened to conviction? It wasn't always like this, religion used to be real. Now religion is bake sales and a dollar in the collection box. It's loving thy neighbor and always voting Republican. It's niceties and considerations. People used to die for their gods, used to kill for their gods. Real religion is cruelty and pain and suffering, but does anyone have the balls for religion anymore? I don't condone the actions of zealots, far from it, but religion is, at its core, all about "big deals," blood, and judging.

    • I like the way you put it, looking at it appears to me men found a way to turn God into the cash cow. Money, money, money. Billions in tax free cash. Almost makes you want to start your own church but then you would know it was as phony as a three dollar bill. Have to keep an eye on you Miss Madge

    • people still kill for their gods, check out northern Nigeria vs the rest; Palestine vs Israel; Muslim Jihads; the Irish conflict (mostly quiet now)...
