Still not a guarentee

OK, since the pill is not 100%, and tube tying has RARELY come undone. There CAN be problems with condoms, but I DOUBT it if she is "on the pill for 6 months" ALSO -- what do you think is a "guarantee" then, abstinence? Is that the reply you would have me give? Somehow I don't think she was looking for that reply, since they are sexually active.

Yeah, of course birth control methods would significantly reduce your probabiliy of getting pregnant but yes abstience is the only 100% effective method. I'm going to tell her the honest to God truth, not just the answer she is looking for.

Getting tubes tied (female) actually has a lower efficacy rate(.5%) than the mirena IUD(.2%), vasectomy(.15%), a couple implants(.05%) and an injectable (.2%).
A girl I went to school with and her brother were born after her mother had her tubes tied (and they "fixed" the issue after the girl was born, before the boy was).
A friend of my husbands and his wife got pregnant, despite her having her tubes tied and him having a vasectomy. He was about to retire at the time, and sending his then youngest child to college. Imagine their surprise.
There are two 100% forms of birth control: Abstinence and hysterectomy(admittedly not a form of birth control, but it is a side effect...).
Oh, and condoms have a 15% failure rate.
