$3,000 for a 20 year financial, emotional, and physical job that you may not be ready for?
.
WOW! Where do I sign up for these kind of wages!
.
Seriously, I wish you and your partner would reconsider waiting a little bit and enjoying the times you have to yourselves now. Once you have children, it really does all change and NOTHING gats any easier afterwards. I applaud you for waithing this long, though.
.
Best of luck whichever way you choose. :)

my partner is 25 and he has been ready for quite some time..
im not doing it for the money..
money should be no incentive to have a child.. you have to want one and know that you cann afford to raise it and be strong for it..

Bravo, Jen!
.
Personally, I think the money is a nice way for a couple to help defray the high cost of prenatal care and child birth.
.
Good luck with your attempts to get pregnant!

In July it goes up to $5000. But we still get better maternity leave peyments in New Zealand.
But that wont cover all the costs needed for a baby and then child, teenager and eventually an adult.

No. BUT...you could put it away in an investment for the child! Could be quite a lump sum in 20 years.

Jen, I hope you haven't been convinced by your partner that now is the time to have a kid just because he's 25 and ready. You're not even old enough to buy a glass of wine at a restaurant yet.
I'm 23 and my partner is almost 31. We are both ready to have kids now by have decided to wait until I'm about 27 because there's still so much we want to do (get married, buy a home, travel).
Don't let your partners age distract you from that fact that you are only 17. If you waited until you were in your twenties, he would still be in his twenties. That is not too old to start having children, considering the average age for a woman to have their first child in Australia is 29.

Given the date of those earlier postings, she'd be 19 now, possibly close to 20.
I'd love to hear how she's getting along, though.
