Help answer this question below.

94 mercury sable cranks won't start, inject some carb cleaner and starts immediately, check engine light comes on , rough idle with some light black smoke, engine has no power but clears up and runs fine after driving several miles

    Done. never again.

    I would take it to a mechanic ASAP. My grandparents had a Sable, and it spontaneously started on fire.
