I would just like to throw my two cents in. I think what everyone has said is true, but I just want to emphasize that it is extremely depedendent on the situation. Sometimes, you click with people so fast and easily and you feel like you "get them" or their core being without knowing the details, and then you can fall in love in say a week. Other people are more different from you or are more complicated or more concealing of their emotions, and thus the love builds gradually. Neither is better, but a good way to gauge is whether the time feels right for BOTH of you. If the connection was instantaneous for you but you feel like maybe it wasn't for the other person, you should probably wait to find out if they stick around or if there is more that you don't know. Usually, if you are indeed in love, you can tell if the other person is feeling it, or at least close to feeling it. Hope this helps, and good luck.
