I have a distant cousin who carries a gene that will make all male children have hydrocephalus. That is a child with a large head because of excess fluid in the brain cavity, which can cause severe mental retardation and early death. She has a brother with this condition, who has never spoken a word, eats from a feeding tube, and is in a nearly vegative state. Her first cousin had a baby with this condition and he lived for 7 days. There is no cure. When she married, her husband new of this, and they agreed to adopt. She then accidentally became pregnant and had a son with hydrocephalus. All of the girls from one line in my family carry this gene. I would have a tubal ligation done and adopt. It would end with me.

    • I feel likewise. In my mind the issue would need to be stopped. Sort of conciously choosing "suvival of the fittest". Excellent viewpoint. +6
