How will we Terraform the Moon? What will it take to accomplish this?

    It's very unlikely that the moon could ever be terraformed because the mass of the moon is way too low to hold an atmosphere dense enough that humans could breathe in shirtsleeves.

    Even Mars would be problematic for much the same reason. Its mass is too low to hold a dense atmosphere like Earth has. Any shirtsleeve atmosphere created on Mars would have to be replenished constantly through artificial means or else it, too, would eventually bleed away.

    To Glenn: I sure hope that you are correct in that Mars will hold a shirtsleeve atmosphere with little maintenance for a long time! If human civilization is to endure for millenia, we need to get all our "eggs" out of this one very fragile "basket."
