I watch a 7 week old and she sleeps all day except about an hour(she won't wake up)her Mom says she sleeps all night also, could something be wrong with her? I am estimating that she is sleeping at least 18 hours a day!

Wow, Thats bad!!!1 You should never pull a umbilical cord of!!!! I had a friend who's baby died because of an infection, and also slept alot...its something i was paranoid about too with my second son....make sure you clean it with alcohol but if i were you i would go to the doctor. Is it bleeding at all, or yellow stuff coming out?

I just cleaned it with alcohol and she cried (which I heard that is also a bad sign because they shouldn't feel it) It had yellow crust on it and it came off when I cleaned it, but under that it looks wet and almost like a yellow tinge. I have watched a lot of kids and this is crazy I have never seen this. I called to ped last week when I started watching her and seen her umb was still there, they both said take her to the dr immediatly and this was not normal. I didn't want to tell the mom I called the dr but I did tell her what I found online and she didn't say anything about taking her earlier.
