I was engaged for three years. We broke up mutually for tons of reasons; we don't communicate anymore. Is it wrong for me to wish him bad luck and misfortune for the rest of his life?

I believe it is wrong. I also believe that it is wrong for you to waste so much time and energy doing so. Not necessary to wish him well, but no need to derive pleasure from another's misfortunes, or to deliberately wish for them. Devote the energy that you waste on his bad luck, to doing something positive for yourself.

It is almost impossible to gain a clear view of the future, when you continually turn your eyes to the past.
