This presumes that drugs sold in the US are automatically safe. That's a big if. Prescription drugs are, by and large, made by the same companies using the same manufacturing methods wherever they are located. There are strict guidelines on the manufacture of drugs. There are also rules as to what drugs can legally be sold in any jurisdication. This will vary, depending on the country, as will the manner in which they are sold. There are many drugs sold here in Canada that require a prescription and that can be bought over the counter in the US. We have drugs we have cleared as safe that the US has not. Drugs can be bought in the US that are considered unsafe here. By and large, name-brand prescription drugs from major pharmaceutical are the same, regardless of where they are bought. Some drugs are only produced at one site - the US and Canadian drugs may be the same, because they come from the same production facility. Claiming one or the other as inferior is all about politics.
