To reduce the condensation inside the tent, you need to keep the fabric surface of the tent warm enough to prevent the condensate from forming. You may need to use a variety of thermal sources, depending on the size of the tent, the fabric the tent is made of and the temperature outside. The concept is to treat the tent like a hot air balloon and trap a bubble of heat inside it. For my four man canvas, I used to use a propane lantern hung off the ceiling.

You should be very careful with this method. Having a burning propane lantern inside of a tent poses a significant fire danger.

Joe-Speedy. Yes, it is risky but then so is sleeping in a snow bank. If you are uncomfortable with a propane flame in the tent, one can always use a differnt heat source.

Also a significant potential for low percent oxygen and high concentrations of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Good potential for death there!

Joe-Speedy. That is an interesting observation. I wonder if it is true? What do you think, Glenn? The lantern will produce CO2, that is true, but could it accumlate enough to create a problem? I don't think so. I don't think tents are woven tight enough for that.
