I went to Universal Studios in L.A. this weekend and tried the new 3D King Kong ride. Has anyone else tried it and what did you think of it?

No argument from me! Whew! What a ride!
by WelbyQuentin on January 10th, 2009
Waited in line 1 hr and 45 minutes for that ride. I love it
by ClassyCee on March 4th, 2010
It is a fabulous ride, I agree. The scariest part for me is going up the first hill. :)
by WelbyQuentin on March 4th, 2010
yes! I was terrified but forced to keep my eyes open by my friend. After a while of going on roller coasters I no longer have and need to cover my eyes. Except on the top thrill dragster.
by ClassyCee on March 4th, 2010
Oh ,my God, the Top Thrill Dragster -- [ excuse my harsh words ,there.] I don't even count that ride as a coaster - - who cares if you're over 400 feet in the air after that godawful beginning -- 0 to 120 MPH in six seconds?! I literally thought I might die from not breathing on that shoot out up until about halfway up the hill. I couldn't breathe. Terrifying to me. [ But, yeah, I still go on it! ] It took me about three years of riding it to finally get used to that beginning.
by WelbyQuentin on March 4th, 2010
Yea the beginning is the only part that scares me too. Cant keep my eyes open through that wind nor can i breath. I love it though. It shoots of really fast. When i first rode it i wasn't ready for that. Over pretty quick though. Its another ride i like at cedar point too. I don't remember the name but it has a red coaster and a blue one they race to finish the roller coaster.
by ClassyCee on March 4th, 2010
Yup - The Gemini coaster is the one you mention. The year it opened ( 1979? I'm not sure at all ) it was the tallest coaster in the world, believe it or not. [ Or, you know how 'records' can be - - maybe it was "The Tallest Wooden Twin Racing Coaster in the World." :) ] I still like that coaster, too -- the first hill is wondrous. Fun ride. :)
by WelbyQuentin on March 4th, 2010
Sounds like I've got to somehow get me on that Top Thrill Dragster --- some roller coasters do nothing for me, its got to be pretty damn good. And where might one find this coaster? ...
by Trissinger on March 4th, 2010
Its in Sandusky, Ohio
They have this roller coaster that's indoors too. Pretty fun. But one ride I hated is the big dipper at Geauga Lake. So many hills it gets boring really fast.
by ClassyCee on March 4th, 2010
Geauga Lake is no longer a park unfortunately. All the rides are gone -- I did like the Big Dipper, however, ClassyCee. :) Hi Triss! I' m going yo try to put a link in here to a picture of the TopThrill Dragster -- there are several simliar-types of coaster lay-outs liek TopThrill. It's a rush - - just like ClassyCee says. Sorry for typin misteas. http://blog.wdwinfo.de/wp-content/uploads/Top02.jpg another one, but i think I goofed.
http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/themeparks/new03/cp_dragster/img/cp_topthrill_photo.jpg The Millenium Froce mentioned earlier in this thread is in the background. :) Ride on. all!
Never mind- - none of thes link worked. Wahtever. signing out -- pissed for not succeeding here. :(
by WelbyQuentin on March 4th, 2010
I loved Geauga Lake too. Wild Water Kingdoms still there though.
by ClassyCee on March 4th, 2010
:D ... Aww, being too tough on yourself, WelbyQuentin, thanks for being so enthusiastic about wanting me to see it (!) --- it ~must~ be awesome! And thanks for that info., too, ClassyCee! Got a friend & his family in Ohio --- anyone know how far Sandusky is from Columbus...? Too bad about Geauga Lake cutting out, but that's life, I guess. (Bit much of an economic up & down ride?)
"Ride on all!" --- sounds like a new roller coaster riders' credo or something, :) ha, good one, WQ!!
(*Oh* ... did I seriously miss some linking info. here? Is Geuga Lake in Sandusky or something, as in, "Sorry, but the ride you want to try out doesn't exist any more"? ...)
by Trissinger on March 5th, 2010
Just checked out TTD on Wikipedia & You Tube --- not bad, not bad at all!! Hope I'll get to try it out some time in the next year or 2... :) :)
by Trissinger on March 5th, 2010
It's a distance but its not too far. You should check into it. I dont want to tell you the wrong info. I hope you get to go.
by ClassyCee on March 5th, 2010
I'd guess about a 2 1/2 hour drive to Sandusky from Columbus. Sandusky is also about an hour west of Cleveland, Ohio.Cedar Point has 18 roller coasters at last count -- more than any other park in the world -- at least, that was true as of a couple of years ago, still. I went To Cedar Point the day the Top Thrill Dragster opened to the public in its opening year -- the ride is about 20 seconds long - quite a thrill!! -- but I waited five and a half hours in line! I got in line at 2:00pm and rode it at 7:30pm. That ride had horrendous down times in its first several years -- it runs much more reliably now. Thanks, Triss! and ClassyCee- - Yes, Ride On ,All! [ Geauga Lake Amusement Park -- a nice medium sized park with some nice coasters and rides for me - - was in Aurora, Ohio. ]
