How many coats of paint will it take to turn a matte white wall a dark color?

    typically 2 coats over white paint ifyou buy a good high quality paint. Benjamin Moore and Devoe Paints both have good paints offering high quality coverage for dark colors.

    However, when painting dark colors, you will need to mask every edge not getting your wall paint. Including your ceiling, door and window trim, and baseboard. IF you can roll all surfaces, using a regular roller and a corner roller (whizzee) you will get uniform coverage. Don't overlap too much!
