What is a 'seeing eye single'?

    A soft ground ball that finds its way between infielders for a base hit.

    So named because it appears to elude the fielders as though there was an unseen force guiding it. (From seeing-eye dog)

    • Thank you for that info. Listening to Brewer's baseball just now and Uker said "the batter had just hit "one of those seeing eye jobs" between the s.s. and 2nd baseman! I had no idea!!! Thank you
