How often should I water my vegetable garden to prevent over/under watering?

    You should give it a good, deep watering about once a week. Possibly every 5 days if it is unusually hot and dry where you are.

    Don't just water your garden until you see water stand on the ground. If you do it this way the water will only penetrate a few inches into the ground. For best results you should water lightly over a 20-30 minute period and let it saturate down deep into the ground.

    Then you don't water for about a week. The top of the soil will dry a bit, but the deeper soil will remain lightly moist. This will cause the roots to develop deeper and give you stronger plants.

    Mulch around your plants to prevent evaporation of soil moisture.
