Is smoking out of an aluminum foil pipe hazardous to your health?

    Nobody really knows how dangerous aluminum is, but everyone agrees it's not a safe element.

    High levels of aluminum in the body are definitely not healthy, and the byproducts of incinerated foil that is inhaled are not healthy, are possibly carcinogenic. The soot that accumulates on aluminum from flame is also a lung irritant.

    Aluminum: A naturally occurring element that makes up about 8% of the surface of the earth and is always found combined with other elements such as oxygen, silicon, and fluorine. Aluminum is is the most common metallic element in the earth's crust but has no clear biologic role. Everyone is exposed to low levels of aluminum from food, air, and water. Exposure to high levels of aluminum may result in respiratory problems (aluminosis). Inhalation of bauxite (aluminum ore) fumes may cause pulmonary fibrosis. Aluminum in the bloodstream may lead to neurological symptoms and may be fatal.

    Aluminum toxicity occurs in people with renal insufficiency who are treated by dialysis with aluminum-contaminated solutions or oral agents that contain aluminum. The clinical manifestations of aluminum toxicity include anemia, bone disease, and progressive dementia with increased concentrations of aluminum in the brain. Prolonged intravenous feeding of preterm infants with solutions containing aluminum is associated with impaired neurologic development.

    Aluminum metal is silver-white and flexible. It is often used in cooking utensils, containers, appliances, and building materials. It is also used in paints and fireworks; to produce glass, rubber, and ceramics; and in consumer products such as antacids, astringents, buffered aspirin, food additives, and antiperspirants.

    • actually no, marijuana smokers are completely different than meth smokers. meth smokers don't give a flyin fuck about anything but meth. They become slave to the drug. But marijuana smokers are just normal people, but happier, more easygoing, and with less problems. your'e acting like some brainwashed middle schooler if you think pot is harmful. smoking a joint is much safer than drinking a beer.

      no hard feelings, just get your facts straight. if you don't know what your'e talking about, don't say anything.

    • umm, i smoke weed, and though what some of you just said is right, you still would have a tough time of being more wrong, yes, marijuana users are different then meth heads, and yes, smoking weed, maybe not a joint, but weed is safer than a beer, but alcohol kills so many people a year its not hard to be safer than alcohol, but I'm not happier, more easygoing, and i have way more problems than most, now this isn't always the story but it is a very common one with this drug. I'm a marijuana addict, and as far as comparing it to other drugs, i lead a pretty normal life. But it does drag me down at times and I'm not any better off from weed. I don't know, it seems to me like you think your cool for smoking weed, and like something kind of special. I live in the bay area, and there is over a million people just like you. I bet you talk about weed non stop.

    • Guess what, a butane lighter IS hot enough to melt aluminum. So I avoid using it. Using matches might help, but supposedly those are hot enough too.

    • we should make every1 in the united states take a 10 minute class with 5 minutes of proven scientific facts and statistics about marijuanna and 5 min of proven scientific facts and statistics about alcholol then vote on decriminalization of marijuanna YES OR NO?
