How can I turn off the backlight in the middle of a game on my Gameboy DS system?

    Short answer: You can't. Unlike the GBA SP, the DS has no little backlight button.

    Long answer: Depends. If you want to stop playing, you can just close the DS, which will turn the backlight off. But I suspect that's not what you want. I guess you want to keep playing, but without the backlight. The backlight is software-controlled on the DS, so it's up to the game to provide that feature in-game, and I don't think I've seen even one game with does. Nintendogs gives you the option of automatically turning off the Backlight if you haven't interacted with the game for 10 minutes, but it'll turn back on as soon as you do. So make sure your game doesn't provide such an option. If it doesn't, you'll have to save, reastart the DS, turn the backlight off and start the game again.
