The Theory of Evolution is compulsory in schools, due to it fitting the exact criteria for a scientific theory. By definition, a scientific theory has no available information which disproves it, as well as multiple confirmations of results over a variety of disciplines. (There are also hundreds of thousands of peer-reviewed papers supporting the subject.)

Creation does not fit the criteria of a scientific theory. I would assume that you are referring to the christian creation stories. One single fallacy deems a scientific theory false, the first and second chapters of genesis contain completely altered chains of events i.e. adam and eve created at the same time/adam created first, names animals etc. then eve is created from his rib.

The Theory of Evolution is based upon widely accepted laws. Incidentally, Creation theory (in the christian sense, with a 6000 year old universe) must deny the existence of gravity. As may be seen here.

Also, the theory of creation fails to provide a testable prediction. Testing predictions is called scientific method.

    • Indeed, it angers me to no end that the vast majority of people are under the impression that the word 'theory' is synonymous with the word 'opinion'.

    • I recently saw a study that said only 25% of Americans possess even a basic scientific background sufficient to read just newspaper articles on science. It's a little frustrating, really.

    • Well, in the eyes of the rest of the planet, all americans are idiots. Which makes me feel rather sorry for those of whom are not.

    • Our education system has seriously deminished in value. But it's true: the rest of the world thinks that we are un-cultured and un-educated, which is unfortunate for those who are not.

    • I'm an australian, 'your lot' is a british/australian way of referring to a family/group/country etc.

You referred to the american education system as 'our education system', so I assumed that you are an american.

    • lol, I was really confused until I looked at your profile. As for the civil war part... I really, really hope not. But there are people who are preparing for it. So we'll see. All I can say is, thankfully I have family with lots of land to take refuge in if that were the case.

Find a loophole in your laws and do the same :P

    • Tell us the name of the evolution scientest that ran test (or saw)on the singularity(big bang) as it happened. The imaginary big bang event has never been tested. No one ever saw or tested this fictional story they only believe or imagined it to have happend. Here's a fact the big bang is beyond any possible proof, you must shut your eyes and believe this religon.By your own words the big bang is not science.
