Practice, dude. The best cyberatheletes and hardcore gamers practice for hours every day.

RTS's: It's all about micromanagement, and being able to split your mind up to concentrate and keep track of different parts of the game/units/enemies/construction at the same time. And being quick with hotkeys. The more you play, the less you'll have to concentrate on one thing at a time.

FPS's: It's all about twitch reflexes and being able to aim accurately with your mouse, whether to aim for that headshot or being able to turn corners properly instead of just strafing around them. And also being able to circle-strafe someone (strafing left or right while keeping the crosshair on them, usually while aiming for the head - even more difficult if plasma, rockets or sniper fire is zinging past). The more you play, the better you train your hand/eye coordination.

RPG's: It's all about levelling properly, putting the right skill points into use. This is more about strategy. If it's a classic RPG, remember to save your potions, but don't be afraid to use them when you need to.

Racing: It's all about being able to steer properly, and turn corners properly. With practice, you'll be able to use the handbrake gently to aid your turns.

I guess the keyword here is practice.

    • I was actually referring to PC's, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a plug-in mouse for the 360 somewhere. :P

    • I get this image of some sort of mega-wireless mouse thing that doesn't need to reflect off a surface to read movement, that you can just wave around madly and it will do everything you want it to, plus the occasional headshot (or downblouse spatulaing, if you're playing GTA IV).

    • what's the action you mime for a downblouse spatulating? I think it's a sort of downwards motion that starts from above the head.

    • I'm afraid it involves gratuitous male nudity, as well as a sexualised stabbing motion designed primarily to show off the male pecs and frighten young girls.
