Speech writing is a tough job. The connotations of a single word might become provocation for an international dispute. For this reason, researching for and writing presidential speeches is a full time job - for more than one person. Seeing as the President has a lot of other responsibilities, and might not have been elected on the basis of his speech writing skills, he simply does not have that kind of time to devote to the many speeches he must give. That goes for any U.S. president.

    • This is a much better answer than the partisan one, and quite true.

    • Excellent answer. Just because it doesn't slam Bush is no reason to downgrade it.

    • Agreed. The president shouldn't spend valuable time perfecting the eloquence and grammar of his speeches when professional writers are available. His speeches just need to reflect his true agenda
