Why do some people laugh at horror movies?

    Two things come to mind
    1. It's a defense mechanism and they're just trying to deal with their "fear" (of horror films)
    2. The movie's badly made and it's really not that scary at all, so they try to make it a joke

    I personally don't laugh at horror movies!

    • Yes, zocotroco, I think it's a bit of both too. I remember seeing The Exorcist way back and people were laughing quite a bit at the very scariest parts. Definitely a defence. But, yeah, there are some pretty laughable ones out there too.
