The US Government was founded under Christian beliefs meant to be separate from the Church of England. The Constitution does not include the phrase "Separation of Church and State," nor does it include the phrase "Freedom of religion." The Constitution does, however, claim, "Congress shall make NO law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...". It is implied that Congress cannot impose legislation that restricts the exercise of religion.
