Ooooh yeah! Years ago when I was growing up there was no TV; We didn't know what everybody else outside our neighbourhood was doing, so we were happy doing our own thing. Now kids are exposed to so much advertising, programming etc that they know exactly what is going on elsewhere and they question why their life isn't like that. My granddaughter is almost 4, can hold an intelligent conversation and has opinions on a wide range of subjects. She has had an unconventional upbringing - I'm not sure if her personality has been moulded because of or in spite of this fact - and appears to have a maturity beyond her years, which I find a little sad. I guess I really am old fashioned....when she insists she's a big girl now I insist that she is still nanny's baby and we have a good girly giggle about it, but I wish I could keep her as she is now for a lot longer. It is a hard world out there and I don't want to expose her to it any sooner than I can help, but it's like she's a runaway train and can't get there fast enough!
