Help answer this question below.

My daughters laptop gets so hot you can't set it in your lap to work because it will burn your legs, then it's shuts off. It even melted the plug that you use to get wall power. Is this something that I can get fixed, or just trash it and get a new one?

You may just need a new fan but first make sure that vents are clean and allow air in.
