Can anyone please help me factor x^2 +x-6?

    Since the understood coefficient of the x in the x-6 part is 1, you need to come up with two numbers that equal -6 when you multiply them, and 1 when you add them. your answer would be (x-2)(x+3). if your problem is to find x, then you would go a step farther and set x-2 equal to 0, and get 2. and do the same with x+3=0, which is -3. so x=2 and x=-3.
