Has there ever been a point in history when being overweight was considered a positive thing, and if so, why did that change?

    Yes, in the colonial times, if you were fat, you were considered rich. This was because most people couldn't afford to eat at their luxury like the rich people in society did. Skinny people were looked down upon.

    • Being pale was a sign of wealth also. You did not have to work in the fields.

    • Right! And now the poor can only afford cheap processed food and greasy fast food, while healthy food gets more and more expensive. So we have the opposite correlation - fat = lazy and poor, thin = hard-working and wealthy.
