What would happen if the moon blew up

    It depends on how big the explosion was. Below a certain threshold, the pieces would probably reconstitute due to gravity and create a new version of the moon. Above that, some of the pieces would enter Earth's atmosphere at a fairly high velocity and create a lot of damage. Some of the pieces would go into [other] orbits around the Earth. Some might leave and begin orbiting the Sun.

    If the explosion was really really big, some of the pieces would leave our solar system altogether.
