Oh my god. What do you actually KNOW about Atkins? It's not a "fad" or a "crash diet", it's a LIFETIME change in how you eat. If you don't have the willpower to make a lifetime change, then you'll never be successful at losing weight. Atkins is a healthy eating plan that's designed to help you lose weight and keep it off FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

The truth is many people can't keep with it as a lifelong change. So they lose all of this weight then gain twice as much back. I have known a few people to do really well on it, and then got sick of it and gain all of the weight plus some back.

People can't keep with ANY healthy diet as a way of life. Look at low fat or low calorie diets, for example. People quickly give up because they're hungry all the time. Just because some people have no willpower, doesn't make the plan a fad or a crash diet. It definitely DOES work as a lifetime plan for many, many people - present company included!

But Atkins isn't for everyone. I asked my doctor about it. And because I had high bp AND high cholesterol, he advised against it. I lost all of my weight and kept it off with Weight Watchers. Not really a diet either....it's a healthy eating lifestyle.

Weight watchers is very good!! except I would always lie to myself about the amount of points I ate...I need to get back on weight watchers though, and not lie to myself!

You just got to be in the right frame of mind. I was after my doctor got after me. The meetings and support were the biggest help. I'd always try to lose before, but I'd always end up quitting. Atkins does help you lose weight, but it is not healthy to do continuously. Everyone I know that's done it gained weight back when they went back to eating normally.
