What would happen if the earth stopped spinning?

• Gravity is a force that is generated by mass. All mass generates it. It does not matter whether that mass is spinning or not. So, Earth would continue to generate the same amount of gravity even if it were to stop spinning. The only way to cause Earth to generate less gravity would be to remove mass from it.

• the spinning of the earth acutaly slightly counters gravity.... you weigh less at the equator than you do at the poles
