I am applying for my dba in New York State to start a business selling craft items. Do I need to charge sales tax on the items I sell?

    I'm not sure about the specifics of New York, but in general if you don't charge the customer, you'll be the one who ends up paying the sales taxes. You will probably only be required to charge tax on the sales you made physically within the state or shipped to New York residents. You may want to contact your county's business licensing department to ask. Best of luck!
