What is the origin of observing a moment of silence for a dead person? What are you supposed to be thinking about when silence is being observed?

    I think this is the multi cultural politically correct substitute for a moment of prayer. In that silence, you can do whatever you think is most appropriate, depending on your particular faith. It would even be OK to pray, like we used to.
