I started refinancing our 1st mortgage (through Countrywide for $179k) and 2nd (through another lender for $68k) into an FHA (house value $280k), but my wife was laid off during the process, and now I dont think we'll qualify. I make $45k. Suggestion?

I've been paying on a 30-yr mortgage for 10 years. So far only paid 10,000 towards Principle and paid about 40,000 in interest. If I refinance, will I start from the beginning and that 40,000 paid in interest will have been waisted?

You're reading Lenders are telling me I have to be in my home for at least 6 months before I can refinance. Why is this?
