Not at all. I have much faith in humanity. It's the one area I have blind, almost irrational faith.

I believe it's easy to see only the negative in the world. Throughout history, people have often claimed to be witness to the downfall of humanity, the beginning of the end, the worst atrocities ever. This is because when fully immersed in the world, as we are, it's very easy to forget that there have always been problems and hatred and horrors and death and destruction. Just as it's equally easy to forget that there's beauty and love and compassion and progress and wonder to be found throughout the world.

When we take a deep breath, release it, and step back to look at the broader picture of life, we can see not only the bad that humanity has done, but also the good. And if we look in a truly discerning way, we will see that there is far more good in the world than bad. Bad just gets bigger headlines.

If this were not true, I don't believe that we would have gotten as far as we have. I believe we would have done ourselves in long ago.
