What makes you answer a question but not down-/uprate it?

I always give as many points as I can. It's frustrating when others give no points. I do appreciate the answers though. People are on here for different reasons. There should be polite way to remind people to leave points for those who want them...without sounding greedy. :)

How many points did the most down-rated question or answer have that you know of?

If you answer a question, do you uprate the question as well? (I hope this isn't a duplicate, my three possible duped options aren't even close)

Should a question be down-rated if it is asked for the sole purpose of starting an argument and, therefore, certainly not so the writer can find a real answer? Is that how down-rating works?

Why shouldn't Answerbag do the higher-leveled users a favor and let users up-rate and down-rate one point for every 10 levels that they are?
