Why did they film episodes 4, 5 and 6 before episodes 1, 2, and 3?

    As I understand it, the entire series of movies (all 6) were originally ONE script. The producers who agreed to help him get started, refused to make a movie of that length (it would have been over 7 hrs long) and told him to pick a starting point. He chose "A new hope-Episode 4" as a starting place because he thought it was the most interesting place to start at the time. If you have the special editions, released a few years ago, each movie starts with an interview of Lucas talking about all this stuff..... Now, to prevent a rating of "complete Moron", It has been a while since I watched all that, but I do seem to remember Lucas talking about the original script including the entire story.
