Prt Scr means "Print Screen" it basically takes a snap shot of your screen as it is when pressed. You then need to open a drawing application (like MS Paint) and copy the image. :)

Okay, thanks. I still can't think of a scenario where I would need that.

It's actually quite useful if you want to explain somebody how they do something on a computer, just take a screen shot and send it to them.
Also, many games have a feature which creates an image file automatically when you hit "prnt scrn"

Thanks! I guess I'll have to practise a bit on this.

Print Screen is awesome. I use it mulitple times per day at work. I use it to train people mostly. I will open a program and then take a Print Screen, a.k.a screen shot and email it to them or paste it into PowerPoint to make presentations with. Once you use it you will love it.

It is true it is a VERY useful thing but I see no reason why a person who only uses the computer to browse the internet/write the odd letter would ever need it.
I am a masters student in computing and my lecturers use it all the time to explain something to us via email and it is great. But for general use, pointless :)

Okay, I just tried it on this screen and then opened it in Word 2003. Does it use a lot of grunt? I mean, if I send the page as an attachment to an e-mail, will it use up a lot of someone's MBs?

You should insert it in e.g. MS Paint, and then save it as a JPG file, the quality will be a bit crude, but it take up practically no HD space
by GreenFreak on February 18th, 2008
Indeed, word documents prior to docx (ie. 2007) are terribly large.
Save it in MS Paint (start-programs-accessories-MS Paint, its a default program in Windows) and save it as a jpg (not bmp) and it should be about 50KB in size, TINY!
If you have word 2007 then the docx would be a little bigger but better quality. :)

Prt Scr mean Print Screen but it also takes a capture of the moment that is pressed, it's very useful when u want to save a screenshot of a game or application that runs in full screen an has no other way to save it, also I must say i use it from time to time :)

in office 2000 if you save a document, then open and resave it it'll be smaller
by shadoweater on September 2nd, 2008
I find no way in which that can be true. I think you are mistaken, shadoweater.

Now I have a key called 'fn' - I hesitate to ask what it is - 'function' maybe, but then I would have to learn all the combinations, and I don't have time for that, I am already 58. Well, tomorrow, I will be 58.
