Help answer this question below.

When you trim a horses hooves how do you know how much to take off,and do you cut off any of the frog of the foot?

    Don't touch the frog!! This is a job for a trained professional, don't muck around with your horse's hooves yourself.

    • I agree, leave it to your farrier, however yes he will remove some of the frog as well as the hoof.

    • Mine never does. She does take a lot of the sole but she never touches the frog. That's living feeling tissue because that's the toe.
