There is another little peice of history assioated with the term redneck.
There was an uprising amoung miners in the early americas and a large number of miners marched to another mine in arms to stand up for the miners being abused at that mine. They wore red bandannas around their neck.
I learned this in my american history class in high school... I wish I could find the information again if anybody knows please comment with a source.

    • The Term Redneck is said to have originated in Ledlow Colorqado during a 1914 Union Orginazation and Miners Strike. The miners/strikers tied a red kerchief around their necks to define who they belonged to. RE: The Ludlow Massacre. there is a good Article in the January 19, 2009 issue of the New Yorker that tells how the term was defined in 1914 not 1921.
