Question

Help answer this question below.

Real-life Titanic hero Fr Thomas Byles (portrayed by James Lancaster) was all too brief since he was mostly a background character in the Rose-Jack story. Did anyone else besides me wish that Byles' role in the ship's story had been fleshed out more?

No I don't. With all due respect to the priest, this was a love story not a documentary and the story was about Rose and Jack. To have played up the others would have taken away from that and made the movie another 2 hours long for nothing! I think they did it just fine.

    • I have been in Texas several times on business but I don't live there. Sorry.

    • To LadyDonita ... meanwhile, they DID "play up" Molly Brown. Not that I had a problem with that, mind you. But since they went to the trouble to have Father Byles in the movie at all, they could have let us see a little more of why he has been remembered through the years, for what he did for those people with whom he chose to die, and the comfort he gave to those who managed to survive.
